Be there about 12:30 – 1:00 o’clock to set up and get ready to start at 1:30 PM. Games are over at 3:30 PM or when we run out of prizes, which ever comes first. The bingos are held in MacArthur Hall Auditorium.

If Squadrons want to bring prizes that would be great but if they can’t they can send Jim Arter the check for the donation and the committee will buy them and get receipts back to them. Make the checks out to Jim Arter with memo marked for IVH Bingo. Jim’s address is 3120 Oswego Ave. Ft.Wayne, Ind 46805. We would like to see a lot of new faces along with the regulars. Remember all Legion Family members are welcome to participate as we all have alot of fun and the residents always look forward to having us there.

(Marion, IN) On June 27, 2010 Glenn Nagel of Griffith Squadron 66 was unanimously elected to the office of Detachment Commander at the 47th Annual Convention of the Detachment of Indiana.

Commander Nagel’s eligibility for membership in the Sons of The American Legion was established through the honorable service of his father, Robert Nagel, who served in the United States Army during World War II. Commander Nagel has been an active member in Griffith Squadron 66 for thirty-six years.

Commander Glenn has served the Sons of The American Legion in various capacities during his membership. He has held many positions in his Squadron, District and in the Detachment of Indiana prior to his election as Commander of the more than 36,800 members of Indiana’s Sons. In addition, Glenn has a long history of volunteer service in his community including sitting on the Board of Directors of the American Museum of Military Vehicles, located in Crown Point, Indiana.

This year Commander Glenn has chosen The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation as his Commander’s Project.

Commander Glenn will be actively pursuing support toward a membership program that will not only increase membership in the Sons, but will actively seek to retain the existing members of Indiana’s Detachment. “Maintain Membership” is this year’s slogan as membership is the life’s blood of any successful organization.

Glenn and his wife Jo are owners of the Nagel Insurance Agency in Merrilvelle for twenty-four years and as always are looking forward to working with all the members of The American Legion family “..as it is a truly great organization”.

The Sons of The American Legion is made up of male descendents of veterans of America’s major armed conflicts since the early 20th century. It is a program of The American Legion, the nation’s largest veterans’ organization with more than 2.5 million members. Together with The American Legion Auxiliary, the three groups make up what is known as The American Legion Family. There are nearly 337,000 members of the Sons of The American Legion nationwide. Indiana has more than 36,800 Sons of The American Legion members and is the second-largest Detachment in the country. The primary responsibilities of the Sons are to support the many different programs of The American Legion, especially those that support veterans and their families. Sons excel in fundraising efforts that benefit youth programs throughout the state and nation as well as a wide variety of service projects in each squadron’s home community.
